The World University Documentary
The World University Documentary will be a website documentary, featuring contributions from students, faculty, administrators, and education experts alike. In addition, we plan to send a film crew to 60 universities worldwide in 15 countries to get people interested and create the core material that others may supplement.
Last March, we sent a team to Libyan universities in Tripoli and Benghazi. Learn more about that trip on our Libya 2008 Trip Report.
Overall Research Focus
At every location, we will consider the interplay between societies and higher education:
- finding the issues that matter within the regions we visit
- comparing regional issues internationally
- focusing on personal experience within larger social trends
- showcasing international discussions among the people we visit
Our documentary team will do more than conduct interviews. We are prepared to:
- Work with students to help them document their own university experience
- Organise conversations and debates between students in different countries
- Conduct master classes and academic workshops in the documentary team’s specialties, which range from engineering and journalism to literature and philosophy
Publishing Online
Documentary websites are the best way to present deeply-interconnected perspectives from people themselves, whether they are students, government representatives, faculty, or the businesses that hire university graduates. The website will include:
- General background on politics & society
- Overviews & analyses from higher education experts
- Interactive maps and statistics from governments & higher education organisations
- Basic information on universities worldwide
- Footage & photographs of university life
- Interviews with students, faculty, administrators, and policy-makers
- Student weblogs
